HalsRide

50 years ago, Hal rode 100 miles in 1 day for charity… he thinks he raised a couple hundred dollars!

His goals are BIGGER now!

At 68, one of his bucket list items is to ride the entire 141.3 miles of the D&L Trail
from south of Wilkes Barre to Bristol in 3 days.

His goal is to raise a total of $50,000 for three charities:

  • Bright Hope
  • Samaritan’s Purse
  • Folds of Honor

WHY???

Hal & his wife, Joyce, are owners of American Fence & Flag in Whitehall, PA. We love to give to our community and to national and international organizations whose missions we value.  We have a passion for giving which has grown over the past 30 years of our business.  Through the company, we give 1% of our sales and 10% of our profit to a variety of charities.  Hal thought his bucket list goal to ride the D&L Trail from one end to the other, would be a great way to encourage folks to give and to support three wonderful organizations.  Hal is hoping to challenge those who read this to give of their time, talents, and treasure and to make a bucket list and work on doing the things on it - don’t wait until it's too late!

BRIGHTHOPE

Founded in 1981, Bright Hope Pregnancy Support Centers honor life and offer hope by providing pregnancy support services, resources and life skills education to women, men and youth. Hundreds of babies have been saved from death by abortion through the caring and skilled services and counsel offered by Bright Hope staff and volunteers over the years.

Bright Hope operates two clinics in the Lehigh Valley, one in Easton and one in Allentown. In a few weeks they will be launching a new Medical Mobile Unit, which will take medical (including ultrasound) and counseling services anywhere they are needed. Bright Hope also operates a maternity home that houses pregnant women who are homeless or facing homelessness. In addition to these life affirming services, Bright Hope also supplies families in need with resources to clothe, feed and raise their child. Life skills education is also at the core of what Bright Hope brings to the community, including healthy relationship training, which is meant to prevent risky behavior in youth.

Samaritan’s Purse International Relief

Donations to Samaritan’s Purse will be funding North American Ministries for hurricane relief efforts in the US.

Samaritan’s Purse quickly responds when disasters strike in the U.S., mobilizing volunteers and equipment to provide assistance. By offering high-quality relief, we have opportunities to share God’s love with people experiencing crisis. We always partner with a local church, where our relief team establishes a command center, mobilizes volunteers, notifies victims that help is available, and serves the community in need.
